Only a few other designers influenced the design of the 60's and 70's as much as Verner Panton did. He is one of the pioneers of the industrial plastic furniture making. For many years he looked for a way to produce a comfortable, stackable chair. He wanted to design a cantilever which had no visible legs and could be used everywhere. The first draft of the S-shaped chair was made in 1959-1960. But it as first in 1967 that the actual mass production could start. The Verner Panton chair was a sensation and won numerous awards. It is one of the design icons of the 20th century, with its sleek design and it is made in one single material in one fluid form. One of the first models is part of the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The original version of this chair was made out of a painted plastic shell. We can deliver the chair in a fiberglass version too which is more robust. Visually the two chairs are stunning but the fiberglass has a more shiny colour compared to the plastic and is less sensitive to scratches. Both chairs have the same dimensions and are stackable
